Another Day!

Today is May 10th, the May 15th deadline for calendar year non profits is upon us. Forms 990, 990T, 990 EZ, & 990 N for calendar year end not for profit entities are due by Monday, May 17th, since the 15th actually falls on a weekend. These returns can also be automatically extended by using Form 8868. This automatic extension does not extend the time to pay any taxes due. Also, each form for each company will need its own separate Form 8868. The automatic extension for the Form 990 allows companies an extra three months until August 15th to complete the Form 990; while the automatic extension for the Form 990T allows companies an extra 6 months until November 15th to complete the Form 990T. Remember though, this additional 6 months for the Form 990T does not extend the time to pay any taxes due. All taxes due must be paid by May 15th or penalties and interest will accrue.
